About the event

Explore, experiment, and connect to nature. Situated in a urban wetland nature preserve, Shelby Bottoms Nature Center welcomes students to engage with the natural world and build a lifelong love of science, exploration and learning.   In the Meadow Succession Lab, the naturalists at Shelby Bottoms will lead us to collect species diversity data in a changing landscape and observe ecological succession.  This is a great opportunity to explore environmental science outside of the classroom since we will be looking at both natural and human made changes.    After our lab, we will eat a picnic lunch and then participate in service learning byt working on a project for the park.  The project may include invasive plant removal, litter clean up, trail maintenance, or planting - TBD.
