About the event

The Focus on Fine Craft Workshop Program for High School Students serves high school students throughout Tennessee. The program takes place in our professionally equipped studios on the campus of the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, Tennessee, part of Tennessee Tech. Students who attend the field trip program participate in hands-on craft activities and learn techniques and equipment used by real working artists in glass, clay, wood, fibers, and metals studios.

The program begins at 9am and runs until 12:30pm and includes an orientation, tour, and workshop. Each studio can accommodate up to ten students. Please let us know when you register which workshops your student is interested in. Following the workshops, students and teachers are invited to bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy it in our cafe dining hall before departing.
