(TPAC Spotlight Event) Puppetry Workshop - Paper Puppet Pals

As part of our partnership with the TPAC Spotlight Awards, our middle and high school theater students are able to access workshops throughout the year.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will dive into the world of Japanese Bunraku-inspired puppetry with Hillsboro Theatre Director Kristin Butler. Working in small groups, you’ll design and build simple paper puppets, thenlearn the unique art of collaborative operation with each puppeteer controlling one part of the puppet’s body. Through teamwork, rhythm, and creativity you’ll bring your puppet to life and discover how movement and storytelling can emerge from even the simplest of materials. No prior puppetry experience required just imagination and a willingness to play!
